Abandoned Coco Palms- Coco Wedding in Kauai, Hawaii by Jason Lanier
Come join Jason Lanier as he photographs Emily Rinaldo in Kauai’s famous, abandoned resort- Coco Palms. This urbex utopia filled with overgrown sugar cane, unattended palm trees, fallen coconuts and the infrastructure of a once-thriving hotel served as the PERFECT shoot location.
About 25+ years ago, Coco Palms was wiped out by Hurricane Iniki. Prior to that, this resort used to be one of the best on the island. It even was used in Elvis Preseley’s film Blue Hawaii in the early sixties.
We do not encourage people to go to this property. We were lucky enough to receive permission to shoot here from the groundskeeper, Travis. A huge thank you to Travis for allowing us to create our work in such an iconic location so we could share it all with you! Travis reported that the owner plans to rebuild and renovate in the near future.
Throughout this shoot, Jason utilized the Sony A7Riii, 20mm 1.4 Sigma Art Lens, and 50 mm 1.4 Lens. Jason light this entire shoot with the Godox AD600 and modified it using the 48” Westcott Rapid Box XXL.
